Day 7 getting to Uluru

Today was our longest travel day so far, 731 km.
The last 40 km seemed to take a long time.
We left Coober Pedy before sun up

and made it to the breakaways just after the sun rose, which made it a little tricky to travel on the dirt road to the lookout but we were greeted with some beautiful scenery once we were there. We had trouble seeing the dingo fence as the sun was glaring right where we needed to look, we didn't do the round trip loop and headed back to the highway.

Checking the view

My favourite peeps, making memories

Nothing like the early morning suns rays for a brilliant Gumby shadow photo.

The trip north of Coober Pedy was covered in mining claims, some big others small.

Our first 200 or so km saw us go past a total of no more than 10 other vehicles, in fact our driving all day didn't not have many other vehicles around, despite the huge distance we travelled.
Again the scenery is rapidly changing.
The NT government have set up a great site at the border and while we were here we met two young dingo (or part thereof) pups. We had been told that they were there when we were at Josehine's gallery in Coober Pedy.

Welcome to NT

Well, we were actually leaving but a photo op a photo op!

We stopped at a few rest stops today, often to top up and have a breather. We had lunch at the turn off for Uluru (about 260 km shy of our destination!) and sat and watched some emus! They were quite funny.

Heading on to Uluru we began to get excited at we saw some large formations which were met with optimism of perhaps being Uluru, it was Mt Connor. But it didn't take long for us to we rewarded with Uluru in real life!
Once we arrived at the resort we were totally overwhelmed with the size of the place, our lovely room and the view, of Uluru from our balcony
Very happy!

We had a great dinner followed by a trip to the Field of light, think Floriade in lights! The buds of light look similar to a field of tulips changing colours. No great photos as all pictures are taken in low light with no tripod.
