Day 17- goodbye Winton, hello Barcaldine

Despite having no real methods of communication available to us (no phone, Optus apparently doesn't know about Winton, and no internet despite having free internet available - don't ask it just wouldn't upload for us!) we were sad to say goodbye to Winton, Lewis loved the place, especially the dinosaurs (he's coming back apparently) and Aimee had a good time too, there was a pool and lots of fun things around town.
A pretty sunrise to start the day
On the road

We headed for Longreach on our way to Emerald. Although there were many things we could see in Longreach we decided on just one, the Qantas Founders Museum, there were also plane tours available but chose against it (as for the same price for a family I could have actually flown interstate from Sydney!) apparently there was a nice cafe onsite too but I just couldn't get that idea of plane food out of my mind! Nonetheless we had a fun time, kids enjoyed discovering a range of planes and the kids corner, colouring in!! Seriously kids you can do that anywhere!

The first Qantas hangar

We had lunch in town at the bakery in town where they had free internet access which is where I updated some of my previous posts. Then headed back to the Qantas museum as we could re enter.
Once we had used the amenities (as you do!) we headed towards Barcaldine.
As we drove down the highway into Barcaldine we could see the tree of knowledge, out for some photos, off to our room /villa and time for a swim.

A pretty sunset

We walked back to town to the 'tree' to see it lit at night, it was great.
On our way back we saw 6-7 kookaburras sleeping on a telephone wire.
While we didn't manage to see all the Barcaldine had to offer we still had a good time, they also have an awesome information centre.
